Course title:Evolutionary and population ecology
Faculty:Faculty of Science
Department:Department of Biology and Ecology
Course code:KBE / WEPEK
Credits:6
Semester:Summer
Level of study:Mgr.
Format of study:Lecture 2 [Hours/Week], Practical classes 2 [Hours/Week]
Name of the lecturer:doc. Mgr. Pavel Drozd, Ph.D. (G)
Language:English
ISCED F broad:Natural sciences, mathematics and statistics
Annotation:The main objective of the course is to explain basic principles of evolutionary ecology and population ecology including life history theory and the basics of quantitative ecology. Lectures are based on previous knowledge obtained in General Ecology course extending the topics of ecological interaction to involve recent trends in evolutionary and behavioral ecology. Integral part of the extension is also understanding of principal models of interaction (discrete and continuous models of population growth, intra- and interspecific, evolutionary stable strategies, game theory). Seminars are focused on methodology of ecological survey and analyses of basic population and community parameters.
