The average salary before tax in the Czech Republic in 2024 is (was) 43,967CZK (approx. 1,757 EUR).

The minimum salary before tax in the Czech Republic in 2024 is (was) 18,900 CZK (approx. 755 EUR).

A 30 m2 furnished studio with utilities in Ostrava can be rented for about 12,000 CZK/month (approx. 500 EUR). For the price list of the University dormitory, you can check here.

Other costs you will most probably have on monthly basis:

Food (while mainly preparing at home) – 5,000 CZK (approx. 210 EUR)
Public transport – 275 CZK (or 1,600 CZK annually) (approx. 11 EUR/ 64 EUR)
Mobile phone carrier – 400 CZK (approx. 17 EUR)

It is recommended to come with a sufficient amount of money at your disposal in order to secure yourself prior you find a part-time job, if you planning so. This can take up to a few months.
