Research
In our Departments and two Research Centres we produce scientific results that can easily stand up to international comparison and we are achieving excellence in particular research areas. We focus on research in biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, environmental geography and social geography. You can find more detailed information in our research section.
Our research teams regularly publish their outputs in top scientific journals and present them at congresses and conferences in the Czech Republic and abroad. In addition to experienced academics and scientists, our PhD students are an integral part of our research teams.
At the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava, we conduct both fundamental and applied research with an international reach. Our teams consistently publish in prestigious scientific journals and participate in national and international grant projects. Research spans biology, physics, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, environmental science, and human and social geography. In addition to advancing fundamental knowledge, we develop applications that address current societal challenges. Doctoral students are an integral part of our research teams, actively contributing to project implementation and the generation of new results.
