Finance and Accommodation - students

The average salary before tax in the Czech Republic in 2023 is (was) 41,265 CZK (approx. 1735 EUR).
The minimum salary before tax in the Czech Republic in 2023 is (was) 17,300 CZK (approx. 730 EUR).

A 30 m2 furnished studio with utilities in Ostrava can be rented for about 12,000 CZK/month (approx. 500 EUR). For the price list of the University dormitory, you can check here.

Other costs you will most probably have on monthly basis:

Food (while mainly preparing at home) – 5,000 CZK (approx. 210 EUR)
Public transport – 250 CZK (or 1,200 CZK annually) (approx. 10 EUR/ 50 EUR)
Mobile phone carrier – 400 CZK (approx. 17 EUR)

It is recommended to come with a sufficient amount of money at your disposal in order to secure yourself prior you find a part-time job, if you planning so. This can take up to a few months.

All students are legally entitled to find a (part-time) job.
