The Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava announces a vacancy at the Department of Physics
- Assistant Professor in Computational Solid-State Physics
Qualifications and other requirements
- University education at the III. level, at least 5 years of experience in research
- Ph.D. in the field of solid-state physics, materials science, or a related physical science field English at least at the B2 level (in the case of Ph.D. degree obtained abroad, recognition of the foreign university degree will be required)
- EU research level: R2 – Recognized
- Scientific results in computational solid-state physics or a related field (at the start date, at least 10 publications in impact factor journals) proving independency (dominant first authorship), and actual activity (at least 4 impacted publications in last two years). In the case of longer scientific career proportionally more results
- Experience in leading of bachelor and master courses (at least two-year experience after Ph.D.), namely in the field of solid-state physics, nanostructures, and quantum physics
- Preconditions for the development of scientific activities in the Nanostructure Physics Group at the Department of Physics
Job Description/Responsibilities
- Guaranteeing and teaching courses in bachelor's and follow-up master's degree programmes, in the field of solid-state physics, nanostructures, and quantum physics
- Supervising and opposing bachelor's and master's theses
- Membership in the commissions of state final examinations in bachelor's and follow-up master's degree programmes
- Independent solving of scientific research and development tasks in the field of computational solid-state physics and nanostructures
- Active publication activities in the beforementioned field
- Collaboration within a research team and with foreign researchers
- Actively contribute to the concept of the development of the scientific research activity of Nanostructure Physics Group

The first round of the selection procedure will take place without the personal presence of the candidates by the assessment of the submitted materials by the selecion committee.
The Dean of the Faculty reserves the right to invite only selected candidates to a personal meeting and also the right not to select any candidate. The selection procedure may be cancelled or repeated at the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty.
