The Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure to fill the following vacancies

  • Postdoc in the field of human geography and/or local and regional development and sustainability transition – project "REFRESH – Research Excellence For Region Sustainability and High-tech Industries"

The above mentioned position is to be filled within the framework of the project "REFRESH – Research Excellence For Region Sustainability and High-tech Industries", reg. no. CZ.10.3.01/00/22_003/0000048, Research Programme Social Lab 1 Governance of Sustainability Transition by a foreign or Czech researcher with good scientific results in the field of human geography and urban, local and regional development studies; and/or sustainability transition studies and governance on an international scale with a high contribution to this investigated research area.

Job Description

  • Collaborates within the research team and with participating researchers
  • Publishes actively according to the requirements of the field
  • Postdoc independently solves science-research tasks in the field of human geography and/or sustainability transition under the guidance of a senior researcher

Qualifications and other requirements

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent degree obtained less than 5 years ago, excl. maternity/parental leave (for Ph.D. degree obtained abroad, recognition of the foreign university degree will be required)
  • EU research level: R2 - Recognized
  • FORD 1,3,5: 3x Jimp. FORD6: min. 4 publications of type Jimp, Jsc, B, C, or D where the outputs are comparable to the international research level
  • Documented involvement in projects of basic/applied/contractual research. Alternatively, international internships totalling 1 month
  • Fluent English, comparable to Level B2, knowledge of other languages an advantage
  • Good knowledge and work capabilities in the field of economic geography, statistical methods and GIS will be preferred
  • Independent, responsible and creative approach to work

Estimated amount of work

  • 3 vacancies at 0.52 FTE

Expected start date

  • May 1st, 2024 (or by agreement)
  • Fixed-term contract

Wage conditions

  • According to the Internal Wage Regulations of the University of Ostrava and for the Researcher II. in the REFRESH project, i.e. 1.0 FTE = 1.700 EUR before tax + bonuses for fulfilled tasks

The first round of the selection procedure will involve the assessment of the materials submitted by the candidates. Only selected candidates will be invited to take part in a second round of remote interviews. The Employer reserves the right to cancel the selection procedure or to decide not to accept any of the applications without giving reasons.
