The Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure to fill the following vacancy
- Associate Professor / Professor / Researcher III at the Department of Mathematics
In this selection procedure, we are looking for a new employee - either a researcher with the title of position Researcher III, or an academic with the scientific-educational rank of Associate Professor or Professor
Qualifications and other requirements
- PhD. degree in mathematics or a related field (for Ph.D. degree obtained abroad, recognition/certification of the foreign university degree will be required)
- Research experience of at least 5 years
- Fluent English, comparable to B2 level or higher
- EU research level: R3 (Established Researcher) / R4 (Leading Researcher)
- Experience with successful preparation and implementation of larger grant projects (in the Czech environment, equivalent to the level of projects of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic)
- Research interests related to the main research areas of the department (Number Theory, Algebra, Mathematical Physics) are preferred, but candidates from all areas of Mathematics will be considered
- For the Associate Professor and Professor position, habilitation/appointment as a professor in Mathematics or a related field is required (appointments outside the Czech Republic must be recognized in accordance with the valid regulations of the Czech Republic or relevant international treaties)

- Independent research work in the field of Mathematics
- Publication activity and publication of the results
- Preparation of research projects, submission of applications for research funding (research grants)
- International research collaboration
- Supervision of Ph.D. theses
- Possible involvement in Bachelor's and follow-up Master's degree programmes teaching

- Participation in the development of degree programmes
- Research in Mathematics, publication of results

The first round of the selection procedure is conducted by evaluating the submitted materials. Only selected candidates will be invited to the second round. The format of the second round of the selection procedure will also allow for an interview to be conducted via an online communication platform.
The Dean of the Faculty reserves the right to repeat or cancel the selection procedure or not to select any of the candidates without giving reasons.
