Position Summary
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the field of fluvial geomorphological modelling. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team focused on understanding and modelling fluvial-geomorphological processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to contribute to ground-breaking research in this area. This position is related to the research project Natural and Anthropogenic Geohazards, reg. No. CZ.02.01.01/00/22_008/0004605.
Expected start date
- 1st August or 1st September, 2024 (or by agreement)
Estimated workload
- 1 vacancy at 1.0 FTE
- 3-year fixed term contract with 1 year extension
Job Description/Key Responsibilities
- Conducting advanced research in fluvial geomorphology
- Developing and applying models to study river morphodynamics and biogeomorphological processes
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of researchers
- Publishing research findings in high impact peer-reviewed journals
- Participating in and presenting at international conferences
Qualifications and other requirements
- Ph.D. in Geomorphology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or related field (for Ph.D. degree obtained abroad, recognition of the foreign university degree will be required)
- Strong proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
- A track record of first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals
- EU research level: R2 – Recognized
- Work experience in the field or PhD studies outside the Czech Republic
- Strong background in fluvial geomorphology
- Experience in modelling of river morphodynamics and biogeomorphological processes and/or programming (Python or similar) is advantageous
- Proficiency in statistical methods and GIS
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
