PF 2025: Faculty of Science, University of Ostrava, wishes you a year of endless combinations!

The Rubik’s cube with twenty-five squares in each wall is a symbol of endless opportunities. Every movement interconnects creativity, thinking, and determination – qualities that lay bases both to sciences and our faculty. The grey hue of the cube refers to the colour of the 25th element of the periodic table – manganese (Mn).

Manganese is a silent hero of the nature and technology. Living organisms need it as a vital element in numerous physiological processes. It is found in minerals, which carry the story of the Earth, it is essential for the steel production. Manganese compounds are as varied and important as the departments of our Faculty. „Science“ can’t get along without them…

Similarly to the hard metal, our Faculty can also withstand unfavourable external influences thanks to solid grounds – knowledge, passion, and cooperation.

May the year 2025 be full of inspiration, new findings, and strong ties with those around you. As each piece has its own place in the cube, so do we in the world mosaic. We all form the harmony, we innovate, we discover.

Science, nature, innovations – that is our mission. It is us who create the story that connects endless combinations into one, single whole.
