This is a new position filled in accordance with the conditions of the Life Environment Research Center Ostrava (LERCO) project (reg. no. CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000003, Research Program 3 (RP3 Modeling and Simulation).

Job description

  • Independent solution of scientific research/development tasks in the field of computational physics of solids and nanostructures.
  • Focus on two-dimensional materials, their interactions and heterostructures. Application of density functional methods and many-particle methods.
  • Active publication activity corresponding to the position, participation in fulfilling indicators and other outputs of RP3.
  • Presentation of project results at international conferences.

Qualification requirements – required

  • Third-level university education, completed research stay abroad.
  • Knowledge of English at level B2 in written and oral communication.
  • Ph.D. in solid state physics, materials science or a related physical field.
  • A recent graduate of a doctoral degree program with scientific work in the field of computational solid-state physics or a related field is expected. At least three publications in respected IF journals are required by the date of entry, with emphasis on demonstrating independence (especially through a dominant representation of publications with first authorship). In the case of longer scientific experience, a correspondingly higher number of results is expected.
  • Previous research using density functional methods is a condition.
  • Experience with many-body methods or with the field of two-dimensional materials is an advantage.
