| Anotation | The visit of a Specialist will help the University of Ostrava on several levels. First of all, it will bring a world-class scientist to deliver a lecture at our venue (as a side note, not only Ostrava, but also at least three other Institutions in the Czech Republic will greatly benefit from this). Secondly, it will help to revive the field of HIV biology in our country. While virology as a subject in the Czech Republic is fairly advanced, HIV research is not as popular these days as it used to be a few decades ago and just a handful of laboratories is still involved in it. Thirdly, the visit of a Specialist will be tremendously important for the young scientists and students. The opportunity to informally communicate with one of the pioneers and gurus in the field is indeed priceless. This, we believe, will attract a new generation of students and young investigators into the research field, which still has numerous unanswered questions and research and therapeutic avenues unexplored. |
