Annotation:More than twenty five years had passed since the fall of the Soviet Union as well as the bipolar organization of the world, forming for more than four decades not only the foreign policy concept of individual powers, but also the mass psychology of several generations of their peoples. This profoundly important event continues to have important strategic, political, economic, ethnic, demographic, global and regional consequences. The course aims to provide a framework for understanding the collapse of the Soviet Union and the implications of the break-up. Additionally, the attention will be focused on the new politics, transitions and transformations that appeared during the past 25 years in the post-Soviet area. Small nations and their autonomies will be also of our interest, as well as everyday life in the CIS region.
