The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava announces the election of the Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava for the 2027–2031 election period

At the meeting of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava on June 18, 2026, a resolution was adopted1: The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science (AS FS) of the University of Ostrava (UO) announces the election of the Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava for the 2027–2031 election period, approves the schedule for the election of the Dean and the requirements for the proposal of a candidate for Dean.

The election of the Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava for the period 2027–2031 (hereinafter referred to as the "Election") has the following schedule:

The AS FS UO will announce the Election and approve the Election schedule, as well as the requirements for the candidate's proposal (application).
until the end of 25.06.2026
The resolution of the AS FS UO is published in the public part of the UO website, containing: the announcement of the Election, the approved schedule of the Election, and the requirements for the candidate's application.
until 11:00 on 02.11.2026
The possibility of submitting a candidate proposal by members of the academic community of the FS UO addressed to the Election Committee for the Election, in a sealed envelope marked "Volba děkana PřF OU 2027", by delivery to the UO Filing Office located in Building "R" of the OU Rectorate at Dvořákova 7, 701 03 Ostrava.


The candidate's proposal must include in printed (paper) form in writing (downloadable form in Czech):

  • a candidate's proposal exclusively by a person other than the candidate himself;
  • the candidate's consent to being included on the candidate list and to the publication of the election program and professional CV;
  • election program (program of activities and development of the FS UO);
  • professional CV (including information on other work and public activities);
  • for a candidate born before the end of 01.12.1971, originals or officially certified copies of documents pursuant to Act No. 451/1991 Coll., as amended, i.e.:
    • a negative lustration certificate (issued by the Ministry of the Interior2);
    • a sworn statement.

The compiled candidate list is published in the public section of the UO website, including the professional CV and election program of each candidate included in the candidate list.
05.11.2026
The pre-election assembly of the academic community of the FS UO is taking place.
20.11.2026
The AS FS UO will elect the dean (1st and possibly also 2nd round).
until the end of 26.11.2026
The Election Commission will prepare an election protocol for the Election. The election protocol is published in the public section of the UO website.
until the end of 03.12.2026
The possibility of submitting reasoned objections to the organization and course of the Election by any member of the academic community of the FS UO, addressed to the Chairman of the Election Committee for the Election.
until the end of 08.12.2026
Decision of the Election Commission for the Election on the last objection received.


1 In cases of doubt between the original Czech document and its English translation, the Czech version prevails.

2 The Ministry of the Interior is obliged to issue the requested lustration certificate (positive or negative) within 60 calendar days from the date on which the application for the issuance of the lustration certificate was delivered to it. Therefore, candidates are advised to take this fact into account and adapt the preparation of their application accordingly.
