Annotation:
The course focuses on the chemistry of d-block elements (and, to some extent, f-block elements). The lectures cover general topics (oxidation states, reactivity, metal production, metallic bonding, band theory, coordination compounds), and in the second half of the semester, the occurrence, properties, preparation, production, and, where applicable, uses of metals and their compounds are discussed for significant examples.
Lectures are held in Czech language. Education materials and consultations are available in English for foreign students.
