Annotation:Environmental models are nowadays widely used tools describing and predicting processes in the landscape and their importance is increasing in solving practical tasks. At the beginning of the course students are acquainted with general possibilities of environmental modelling for individual landscape spheres. Next lectures are devoted to the theoretical basis of rainfall-runoff models, which are currently among the most used types of environmental models, sensitivity analyses, parameter optimizations and uncertainty analyses. In the final part of the course, students get the knowledge in modelling the cycle of selected biogenic elements, which is important for understanding and simulating biochemical processes in the landscape. In this part of the course, students will be acquainted with the theoretical fundamentals of modelling the transfer of air pollutants, modelling their atmospheric deposition and modelling of sulphur, nitrogen and acidity critical loads. In the follow-up exercises students solve practical tasks, where they demonstrate the ability to analyse a given problem using theoretical knowledge from lectures and using modern modelling software (HEC-HMS, MRM, SMB, VSD).
