AnotationThe project focuses on current research issues in two geographical disciplines, political and cultural geography as well as economic geography and regional development. The project aims to demonstrate the potential of both disciplines to contribute to the understanding of current issues in Ostrava, Czechia, and especially abroad. The importance of the project lies in the discussion of a wide range of geographical topics and applied methods as well as the involvement of researchers and students at different stages of their careers. The sub-objectives of the project are based on the individual research topics. These include Russian hybrid threats in Serbia, Russian hybrid threats in Georgia, issues of tourism development in the de facto state of Northern Cyprus, construction and development of the futuristic Saudi Arabian city of Neom, contemporary dimension of far-right parties in France and Belgium, issues of Chinese interference and resilience in Asia, status of ethnic minorities in Bangladesh, issues of Pakistani migrant workers in Northern Cyprus, perception of transport solutions in selected parts of Ostrava, and the potential for the reuse of brownfield sites in Czechia.
